MEGATROPOLIS will cover 5,000SQFT within a Satellite City that Covers 15,000SQFT at aproximately 2,000FT directly behind The Temple. The buildings will have a combined presence that will evoke wonder and amazement to all citizens to become part of this City. Artists will apply their art.... Performers will perform their art.... Dreamers will dream....what if!?

MEGATROPOLIS will be of the people, by the people, for the people.......
MEGATROPOLIS represents a random City Block of buildings that could exist in any Metropolis. Seemingly enduring, some times even an immortal city block burns to the ground - The Life and Death of a City.
Impact
MEGATROPOLIS is a massively collaborative work, intended to demonstrate to the people of the city what is achievable when a group puts there hearts and souls and minds together on a project....any project.
But also, on a more basic level it will be a giant great honking big, multicoloured colour, changing landmark on the horizon out beyond the temple, calling to one and all with its hypnotic colours, its proud, babelous fingers reaching skyward to scratch, or maybe even caress the very face of God himself!!!
Interaction
MEGATROPOLIS has an elevator that will wisk it's Citizens to the top of the tallest building, The Lift Tower. They will see their city from 50FT and be amazed at what is theirs.
Some buildings will have ground floor access...and some may have more than ground floor access. Areas within these buildings will be available for Artists and Citizens to express them selves in what ever form they desire. Like any city, citizens will be politely invited to make their mark in whatever way they like – be it crayon, mural, or spray can.
Luxury apartments shall be sold from plan to only the most high flying, wealthy & discerning citizens of Black Rock City, at prices clearly reflective of the true value of the property and not simply of our marketing hype, subject of course to the approval of the co-op board. MEGATROPOLIS living aims to provide our most notable, good looking & important citizens a secure and understated living experience that comes complete with grated balconies from where they can pour boiling champagne on the hoi polloi below.
Cognisant of the irrepressible desire to climb tall structures, we will be carefully presenting "safe" climbing opportunities within the structures, to allow participants to scratch that particular itch without putting themselves in too much danger.
Illumination
MEGATROPOLIS will be visible at night from all over the playa. There will be a unnecessarily powerful spot light on top of the Lift Tower projecting images onto clouds made of smoke as well as the real ones if they are low enough.
Buildings will have both internal and external wash lighting to ensure they are radically illuminated form nearly every angle, while certain faces will be left dark to encourage projections by the citizens of the city.
Power for lighting will be provided by a generator housed, appropriately, in the power station....
Fire!
MEGATROPOLIS WILL BURN............. There will be Fire and there will be Explosions and there will be Pyrotechnics. These will not happen all at once but over a period of time all of these will happen.
